Drew Willy had the Winnipeg Blue Bombers out to a blazing start. The rebuilt team had the highest scoring offence through the first three weeks of the season, and an undefeated record to boot. Now, following a near-abysmal Week 4 offensive performance in their first loss of the season, Winnipegs first-year starting quarterback is placing the blame squarely upon his own shoulders. "I think anytime you have only three points, its one of those things that you take it personally as the quarterback," said Willy as he prepared for Fridays matchup in Vancouver against the 2-2 B.C. Lions. "Thats your job. Your job is to always take — no matter what happens out there it should really always be on you. We each had our part in it, but I mean, its definitely one of those things where its my job to make sure were productive and make sure we get going as an offence. Taking responsibility is not a huge thing for me. I always tried to do that in my past." The Bombers were held to just 209 yards of net offence in their 26-3 loss at home to the Edmonton Eskimos. After studying the game film, Willy feels he could have been a touch more patient on some plays. "There were definitely times I wish I would have stayed on a few receivers a little bit longer. It kind of opened up a little bit later than I thought it would. Its just one of those things where I need to trust what were doing on offence and go from there." "Its never going to be a perfect game in your reads and everything." After allowing five sacks to the Eskimos defence, some will immediately look to an area of weakness from last season — the offensive line — as the reason to why the Bombers offence struggled. While Willy was often hurried and harassed by the Esks last week, he doesnt see his line protection as the overriding issue. "Weve done some good things. We were throwing the ball. We were basically averaging just under 300 yards the first three games. Obviously there was some good protection there for me to be able to throw for that kind of yardage. Its just one of those games last week that it just wasnt all on the O-line. It was all twelve of us and we each took our part. You could look at drives and one play its one guy, and one play its another. One play its me. Its just all around, so we just need to consistently be on the same page on offence and make sure we dont have those mental mistakes." After a breakout 122 rushing yard performance in Week 1, and three TDs on the ground in Week 2, rookie tailback Nic Grigsby had only 17 rushing attempts in the following two games for a total of 84 yards. The quarterback knows the importance of getting the running game going again if he wants his offence to succeed. "To get (Grigsby) going would be great for us. Hes a dynamic player," added Willy. "If we can get him the ball in the running game or pass game — we just need to get him some touches. Any time you run the ball well, in my past experiences in this league, it definitely increases your chances of winning." NOTES: Rookie starting safety Moe Leggett returns this week after missing two games with an ankle injury ... Linebacker and defensive back Johnny Sears has been ruled out this week with a hamstring pull. He was listed as questionable throughout the week as he worked to get healthy for the game ... Defensive end Jason Vega is another veteran hit to the Bombers D corps as the former NFLer is out this week due to injures referred to by Mike OShea as "various what-nots" ... Rookie kicker Lirim Hajrullahu will take on all kicking and punting duties following Mike Renauds hamstring injury suffered in pre-game warm-ups last week ... Returner Aaron Woods returns to the active roster after a two week absence where the team used Paris Cotton and Demond Washington on kick and punt returns. Cotton has been placed on the one-game injured list ... The club has decided to swap tackle Dan Knapp and guard Cordaro Howard. Howard moves over to the right tackle spot Friday night, and Knapp inside to left guard as Canadian starter Chris Greaves continues to recover from a knee injury suffered in Week 3. Greaves practiced this week and may be ready to go by Week 6 ... Slotback Julian Feoli-Gudino missed practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week, but Mike OShea assured he will be good to go Friday night ... The team signed Canadian linebacker Kyle Jones on Monday. Jones is a true utility player who can play special teams, punt, kick, kickoff, snap, and hold. "The one thing he cant do is snap to himself, hold it, and kick his own field goal. But I havent asked him to do that so maybe he can," quipped OShea. Jones should work as a safety net with the Bombers only having one healthy kicker at the moment. Drew Lock Broncos Jersey . After missing 20 games as a rookie a year ago, Valanciunas - like the Raptors as a whole - has been fortunate to be in good health this season. As he spoke about it, the Raptors sophomore centre scanned the room for wood to knock on. "It is disappointing because we lost today so thats the worst part of the day," said Valanciunas, who left Tuesdays game with a lower-back sprain in the third quarter, missing the rest of Torontos 118-113 overtime defeat at the hands of the Hawks. Phillip Lindsay Jersey . - The width of Alec Martinezs shin guard was the difference between the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks in their playoff series opener. http://www.broncosrookiestore.com/Broncos-Royce-Freeman-Jersey/ . The teams were scoreless for most of the first two periods before Canada scored three times in a span of less than four minutes. Sarah Potomak opened the scoring on the power play. Shannon Sharpe Womens Jersey . It was just business as usual for the Thunder at home. Durant scored 32 points and the Thunder beat the Bulls 107-95 on Thursday night for their eighth straight win. Terrell Davis Broncos Jersey . - The Cleveland Indians will place centerfielder Michael Bourn on the disabled list before their opener at Oakland on March 31. CHICAGO -- Jake Arrieta took the ball for the Chicago Cubs and picked up right where he left off. He threw his fastball where he wanted it to go. His breaking stuff had good late movement. The Cincinnati Reds finally had to put him on base to get him out of the game. Arrieta retired his first 18 batters and struck out nine in seven impressive innings, leading Chicago to a 7-3 victory over Cincinnati on Tuesday night. "He was commanding his pitches," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said. "His pitches had life." Arrieta (4-1) struck out eight during his perfect start, including the side in the sixth. He had a leadoff walk in the bottom half and came around to score when Homer Bailey (7-4) hit Starlin Castro with the bases loaded. That little trip around the bases proved costly. Rookie Billy Hamilton started the seventh with a single up the middle for Cincinnatis first baserunner. "I was pretty gassed there, unfortunately," Arrieta said. "Pretty humid night. Long inning there in the sixth. Running the bases, which really isnt all that tough in itself, but you couple that with being on the mound and having that long layoff, it adds a little bit to it." Arrieta allowed two runs and three hits while improving to 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA in five June starts. It was his first win of the season at Wrigley Field, where he has yielded three runs in 23 innings over four starts. "Really its just kind of going through the process that I feel like gives me the best chance to have success," he said, "and going through it day by day and sticking with it." Anthony Rizzo belted a solo homer for the second straight night for the Cubs, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Welington Castillo drove in two runs, including a sacrifice fly in Chicagos three-run eighth. Devin Mesoraco homered for the fifth straight game for Cincinnati, matching a franchise record. Mesoracos 14th homer came with one out in the ninth against Neil Ramirez. "It was late in the game. All the other homers were to help the team wiin, and important, big homers," he said.dddddddddddd "They actually meant a lot. That one didnt really help us come back, so it doesnt mean as much." Mesoraco also had an RBI single in the seventh and scored on Jay Bruces double before Arrieta struck out Ryan Ludwick to complete his masterful night against one of the majors hottest lineups. Cincinnati had won three straight and nine of 12, averaging 6.7 runs and 10.2 hits per game in that stretch. The Cubs used four relievers to get through the eighth, and Ramirez finished Chicagos 12th win in 42 games against Cincinnati over the last three seasons. The Reds had runners at first and second in the eighth when third baseman Mike Olt made a nice diving stop on Todd Fraziers grounder for the final out of the inning. The start of the game was delayed 53 minutes by rain, but the pitchers adjusted quite nicely to the late start. Bailey retired his first 11 batters, striking out five. But Rizzo drove the first pitch he saw in the fourth inning into the basket in right-centre for the first of his three hits and his 17th homer this season. Castillo added a run-scoring double in the fifth, and the Cubs chased Bailey while scoring two more in the sixth. Nate Schierholtz had a sacrifice fly for the first of his two RBIs. Bailey allowed four hits, struck out six and walked two in his first loss at Wrigley since he pitched 5 1-3 innings in his first career appearance at the cozy neighbourhood ballpark on Sept. 13, 2009. The right-hander began the day with a 5-1 record and a 2.56 ERA in seven road starts against the Cubs. "Just bad pitch execution in the last inning or two," Bailey said. "That was probably the only thing I saw." NOTES: Hamilton extended his career-best hitting streak to 12 games. ... Cubs OF Emilio Bonifacio (rib injury) is working out, but has yet to resume baseball activities. "Hes improving," Renteria said. ... Reds RHP Mat Latos (0-0, 3.86 ERA) and Cubs RHP Edwin Jackson (5-7, 5.12 ERA) pitch in the series finale Wednesday.
